‘Corona Pandemic’ Still Life
The Time of Corona
When words fail, art can express how we feel. When corona hit and we went into the first lockdown, I felt the need to capture this strange and terrifying situation. So I created this still life inspired by the 17th Century Old Masters – my take on corona pandemic art.
Overnight our reality changed. Fear and uncertainty ruled. Suddenly people hoarded toilet paper and hand sanitizers and protective gloves became a part of our everyday lives. As did face masks, which I was unable to get hold of, when I created this still life.
Many families and countries have suffered real tragedies, others have been less severely affected, but we all share the fear, uncertainty and strangeness of this pandemic.
This is a time we will never forget. I hope we will soon be able to control the pandemic and look back on this time as a memory. A framed memory on the wall to remind of us a strange and difficult time. But also a time where we came together and the whole world was united.
